iamthelovechild asked: wow your blog is so inspiring to someone that would love to grow more of her own food and what not. do you have any tricks of the trade or any good books or websites that could help me get on my way with doing so?
my favourite gardening books, and the ones that i refer to all the time are:
backyard self sufficiency - jackie french
the permaculture home garden - linda woodrow
they are both written in australia so i find them more relevant to the kind of gardening i can and will do here than anything else i read from the northern hemisphere. they both have an attitude that i love about doing as little work as possible and just being smart/designing systems well, and the descriptions of both of their properties are very inspiring to me. if you aren’t in australia though i don’t have many/any tips or resources for you.
recently i’ve started trying to plant by the moon phases, which i like as an idea even if just to divide my time in the garden and tell me what to do each week (besides any cool things like better growth.) i have this poster below, and i also downloaded an iCal add on moon cycle calendar so i always know when the next moon phase is approaching and try and organise my time in the garden around that.

Rooibos kombucha.
destinationmooon asked: What are some good ways to use apple cider vinegar?
in salad dressings, anywhere you would use regular vinegar, to condition your hair after washing, and i haven’t done this yet but really want to: in vegan butter http://www.veganbaking.net/vegan-recipes/other-vegan-treats/vegan-butter.html
Fennel, kipfler potato, broccolini, sprout salad, and lentil soup.
Made by my friend Dandelion, that salad was amazing!
Kimchi fritters, brown rice, seaweed, and salad. Served with a Melbourne Bitter.
eta:
you need to fix the caption of the kim chi fritters cos there is melbourne bitter in that photo too and that is an important accompaniment.
thanks lena!
